Asia

Quay Group is exclusively partnering with one of Asia's most exceptional ultra-luxury private island destinations to appoint an outstanding Assistant Island Manager.

This is a rare career opportunity for an accomplished hospitality professional who has already built a strong foundation within luxury or ultra-luxury hospitality and is ready to take the next significant step in their leadership career.

Working directly alongside a highly experienced Island Manager, the successful candidate will become immersed in every aspect of the operation, gradually developing the knowledge, judgment, and leadership capability required to progress into future senior island leadership.

The Opportunity

The island welcomes an exceptionally discerning international clientele and high-profile guests who expect complete discretion, intuitive service, and exceptional attention to detail.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Island Manager across the entire operation, combining hands-on operational leadership, guest experience, team development, commercial awareness, and exceptional hospitality standards.

You will be expected to understand not only how an ultra-luxury island operates, but how to create an environment where both guests and employees feel genuinely valued.

Over time, you will take on increasing responsibility as you develop toward future senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Working closely with the Island Manager, you will:

  • Support the day-to-day leadership and operation of an ultra-luxury private island
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences through intuitive, highly personalized service
  • Build genuine relationships with guests and help create experiences that encourage long-term loyalty and repeat visits
  • Anticipate the needs and preferences of UHNW and high-profile guests
  • Maintain consistently exceptional operational and service standards across the island
  • Lead, inspire, coach, and develop a diverse hospitality team
  • Create a positive culture built around accountability, respect, collaboration, and exceptional service
  • Work across multiple departments to ensure a seamless guest experience
  • Support training, mentoring, and professional development across the team
  • Identify opportunities to continually improve both the guest experience and island operation
  • Contribute to budgeting, purchasing, cost control, and operational reporting
  • Work closely with ownership and the wider senior leadership team
  • Support sustainability, conservation, and responsible tourism initiatives
  • Make calm, considered decisions in a dynamic and highly demanding environment
  • Gradually assume greater leadership responsibility as part of a long-term succession plan

The Person

We are seeking an accomplished hospitality professional who combines luxury service expertise with genuine warmth, humility, and strong people leadership.

Your background could include an internationally recognized five-star hotel or resort, private island, ultra-luxury lodge, or another exceptional hospitality environment.

Previous private island experience would be highly relevant but is not essential.

More important is a genuine understanding of personalized luxury hospitality and the potential to develop into an exceptional Island Manager.

Experience & Skills

The successful candidate will ideally offer:

  • Significant experience within luxury or ultra-luxury hospitality
  • Proven leadership experience within a five-star resort, hotel, private island, or internationally recognized hospitality brand
  • Experience working with VIP, high-profile, and UHNW guests
  • Broad operational understanding across multiple hospitality departments
  • Exceptional guest-service instincts and the ability to anticipate needs
  • Strong people leadership, coaching, and mentoring capabilities
  • Excellent judgment and calm decision-making under pressure
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Good commercial and financial understanding, including budgets, purchasing, cost control, and operational reporting
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Confidence working with ownership and senior stakeholders
  • High levels of emotional intelligence and cultural awareness
  • Absolute professionalism and discretion
  • A genuine interest in sustainability, conservation, and responsible tourism
  • The resilience and adaptability required for island life

Excellent spoken and written English and Filipino are required.

Leadership Style

Technical hospitality experience alone will not be enough.

We are looking for someone who is ambitious without ego, confident without arrogance, and capable of leading through example rather than hierarchy.

You should be someone who enjoys developing people, is naturally curious, welcomes feedback, and genuinely wants to continue learning.

Integrity, humility, compassion, resilience, emotional intelligence, and a positive sense of humor will be every bit as important as operational expertise.

We would particularly welcome applications from Filipino hospitality professionals currently working within leading luxury resorts and hotels in the Philippines, elsewhere in Asia, the Middle East, Indian Ocean, Caribbean, or internationally who would be excited to bring their experience home to the Philippines.

All applications will be treated in the strictest confidence.
