Commissioning Engineer – Large Superyacht New Build

A rare opportunity for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join the final phase of a large and prestigious superyacht new build in Europe.
We are looking for a highly capable engineering professional who can step into the project during the final 12 months of construction and play a key role in commissioning, testing, troubleshooting and bringing complex onboard systems through to final operational readiness.
This is a senior, hands-on appointment and would suit an experienced Chief Engineer with an Unlimited CoC who has strong new-build, shipyard or extensive refit experience and is comfortable working within a complex, fast-paced yard environment - this is a time-pressure situation, people!
The Role
You will work closely with the Build Captain & Project Manager, shipyard, contractors, OEMs and onboard engineering department throughout the final stages of the project.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing and supporting commissioning of machinery, engineering and technical systems
- Witnessing testing, trials and system sign-offs
- Identifying and resolving technical issues during commissioning
- Managing snagging and ensuring defects are tracked through to completion
- Liaising closely with the shipyard, subcontractors, suppliers and equipment manufacturers
- Reviewing technical documentation and ensuring systems are delivered in line with specification
- Supporting harbour and sea trials
- Assisting with final handover and operational readiness of the yacht
- Ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the exceptionally high standards expected of the project
The Candidate
We are looking for someone with:
- Chief Engineer Unlimited CoC – essential
- Significant large-yacht engineering experience
- Previous new-build experience or extensive shipyard/yard-period exposure – essential
- Strong commissioning and fault-finding ability
- Excellent technical judgement and practical engineering knowledge
- Confidence dealing with shipyards, contractors, OEMs and senior project stakeholders
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- A calm, solutions-focused approach under pressure
- The ability to work collaboratively within an established build team
