Role Overview
The Crew Employment Manager is responsible for overseeing all crew employment matters across the managed fleet. This is a pivotal shore-based role, acting as the central point of coordination between crew, Captains, and Yacht Managers to ensure seamless, compliant, and professional crew management at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Crew Employment & Administration
- Oversee all aspects of crew employment across the fleet, from onboarding through to repatriation
- Prepare, issue, and manage Seafarer Employment Agreements (SEAs) and related documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date crew records and employment files
- Recruitment Coordination
- Coordinate recruitment processes in collaboration with Captains and Yacht Managers
- Liaise with recruitment agencies and support candidate selection, vetting, and placement
- Ensure timely crew changes in line with operational requirements
- Payroll & Financial Liaison
- Act as the key liaison between vessels and payroll providers
- Verify crew rotations, leave, and contractual terms to ensure accurate salary processing
- Support budgeting and cost tracking related to crew employment
- Compliance & Regulations
- Ensure full compliance with maritime regulations including MLC and flag state requirements
- Monitor certification, visas, and right-to-work documentation
- Support audits and inspections by maintaining robust employment records and procedures
- Crew Welfare & Support
- Promote high standards of crew welfare across the fleet
- Act as a confidential point of contact for crew-related matters
- Support conflict resolution and contribute to a positive onboard culture
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with Yacht Managers and Captains to ensure aligned crew management strategies
- Provide guidance on employment matters, policies, and best practices
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of crew management systems and processes
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in crew employment, crewing operations, or yacht management
- Strong knowledge of maritime employment regulations, particularly MLC
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills with high attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels
- Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Discreet, professional, and able to handle sensitive information with integrity
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are advantageous
Requirements
- Must reside within a commutable distance of Monaco
- Previous experience within the yachting or maritime industry is essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and crew management systems preferred
