Director of Residences – UHNW Family
San Francisco Based | Overseeing Multiple Estates | Extensive Travel
An Ultra-High Net Worth family is seeking an experienced and highly organised Director of Residences/ Estate Manager to oversee the management and operations of four private estates across the United States.
Based in San Francisco, this senior position will oversee the strategic and day-to-day management of multiple residences, ensuring each property is maintained and operated to the highest standard. The role involves close collaboration with household staff, vendors, and external partners to ensure seamless property operations and exceptional service delivery.
This role would suit a highly organised leader with experience managing UHNW households and is particularly well suited to former yacht crew such as Chief Stewardesses, Pursers, Captains, or senior management professionals transitioning ashore.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the operations and management of four UHNW residences nationwide
- Manage and support household staff and estate teams across each property
- Ensure all homes are maintained to the highest standards of presentation and readiness
- Coordinate property operations, maintenance schedules, and capital projects
- Oversee budgets, vendor relationships, and service contracts
- Ensure seamless transitions when the family moves between residences
- Implement systems and procedures to ensure consistent household standards
- Conduct regular property visits and walkthroughs
- Coordinate with the family office and other senior staff to support the Principal’s needs
- Manage household logistics, inventories and operational planning
Ideal Candidate
- Significant experience managing UHNW estates or private households
- Background in yachting (Chief Stewardess, Purser, Captain or similar senior role) highly desirable
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
- Experience managing multiple properties simultaneously
- Comfortable overseeing budgets, vendors and operational planning
- Professional, discreet and able to operate at a senior level within a private environment
- Willing and able to travel regularly between properties
