A private family is seeking a reliable, hands-on Estate Maintenance Assistant / Houseman to support the year-round care and upkeep of their Hamptons residence.
Working closely with the Estate Manager, this position will help ensure the property is consistently maintained, fully operational, and ready for the family at all times.

Responsibilities
- Conduct regular property walkthroughs and routine maintenance checks
- Monitor household systems and identify maintenance issues before they become larger problems
- Ensure equipment, fixtures, and household systems are functioning correctly
- Carry out general handyman tasks and minor repairs
- Assist with preventative maintenance throughout the property
- Troubleshoot day-to-day maintenance issues
- Report larger maintenance requirements to the Estate Manager and assist with coordinating appropriate vendors
- Meet and provide access to contractors and service providers when required
- Assist with deliveries, installations, and property-related projects
- Help maintain garages, storage areas, and back-of-house spaces
- Assist with seasonal opening, closing, and preparation of the residence
- Support exterior and property upkeep as required
- Assist the Estate Manager with ongoing projects and general estate operations
- Ensure the residence remains well maintained, organized, secure, and ready for the family's arrival
- Provide additional hands-on support around the estate as needed
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is practical, observant, proactive, and genuinely hands-on.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience within private estates, high-end residential properties, property maintenance, facilities, construction, or a similar hands-on environment
- Good general handyman and maintenance skills
- A strong understanding of preventative property maintenance
- The ability to identify potential problems and take appropriate action
- Confidence working with vendors, contractors, and tradespeople
- Strong attention to detail
- A proactive approach and ability to work independently
- A professional, discreet, and trustworthy manner
- A willingness to assist wherever needed
- A valid driver's license
- Excellent, verifiable references
Previous private household experience would be advantageous but is not essential for someone with strong high-end residential or property maintenance experience.
Candidates must already live within reasonable commuting distance of the Hamptons.
