Safety & Compliance Manager (Deputy DPA/CSO)
Location: Southampton (3 days office / 2 days WFH)

An established and respected name in the maritime industry is seeking a Safety & Compliance Manager to play a key role in maintaining the highest operational and regulatory standards across a diverse global fleet.
Working closely with the Fleet DPA/CSO, this position ensures that company and vessel operations fully comply with international maritime safety and security regulations, while continuously promoting a proactive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities

Support and deputise for the Fleet DPA/CSO, ensuring the effective implementation of the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).

Lead or assist with safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations both ashore and afloat.

Monitor and maintain compliance with Flag, Class, ISM, ISPS, and MLC requirements.

Develop and refine risk assessments, emergency response procedures, and fleet safety policies.

Deliver training and guidance to officers and shore staff to strengthen safety awareness and regulatory understanding.
About You

At least 5 years’ maritime experience, ideally sailing as Captain, Chief Engineer, or senior officer.

Qualified DPA/CSO, with Lead Auditor certification preferred.

Proven background in maritime safety, compliance, or risk management.

Confident communicator with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

Naturally collaborative, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities.
The Offer
This is a permanent, full-time role based three days per week in Southampton with two days remote working. Some international travel will be required for audits, inspections, and vessel visits.
An attractive remuneration package will be offered, commensurate with experience.
