Yacht Manager - Large Yacht Experience
UK Based (WFH) with International Travel as Required
We are seeking an experienced Yacht Manager to join a highly professional yacht management operation, supporting the oversight of large, complex vessels from a predominantly UK home-based position.
This is not a purely administrative yacht management role.
The successful candidate will combine strong operational and commercial judgement with a genuine understanding of the technical realities of running large yachts. You do not need to come from an engineering background, but you should be sufficiently technically confident to engage intelligently with Captains, Chief Engineers, shipyards, refit teams and specialist contractors; understanding what is being discussed, asking the right questions and helping move issues towards practical resolution.
The role requires someone who can see the bigger picture while still being comfortable getting into the detail when necessary.
The Position
Working closely with Captains, senior crew, owners’ representatives and external partners, you will help ensure vessels are operated safely, efficiently and to an exceptionally high standard.
Your remit will encompass the broader yacht management function, including:
- Operational oversight of large yachts
- Close liaison with Captains and senior onboard teams
- Budgeting, forecasting and expenditure oversight
- Regulatory, compliance and operational coordination
- Maintenance, repair and refit planning
- Shipyard and contractor liaison
- Reviewing and helping resolve technical and operational issues
- Supporting longer-term vessel planning and improvement programmes
- Acting as an effective link between the vessel, management team and ownership structure
A key part of the role will be the ability to translate between the technical, operational and commercial sides of yacht management - ensuring that decisions are well informed, proportionate and properly communicated.
The Individual
We are particularly interested in speaking with Yacht Managers who have worked with larger yachts and technically complex vessels and who enjoy being closely involved in their operation.
You are likely to bring:
- Strong experience within yacht management or a closely related senior shore-based role
- Meaningful exposure to large yachts
- Sound knowledge of yacht operations, maintenance and refit environments
- A stronger-than-average understanding of engineering and technical matters
- Confidence dealing directly with Captains, Chief Engineers, shipyards and technical specialists
- Good financial and commercial judgement
- The ability to assess competing operational, technical and budgetary priorities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
- A calm, pragmatic and solutions-led approach
- High levels of discretion, professionalism and personal credibility
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a wider management team
This is likely to appeal to someone who enjoys being close enough to the vessels to make a real difference, rather than managing exclusively through reports and spreadsheets.
You will be comfortable challenging where necessary, supporting when required and building trusted relationships with experienced Captains and crew.
Location & Travel
UK based, with the role operating predominantly from home.
Regular attendance at yachts, shipyards and other international locations will be required according to operational needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for an established Yacht Manager looking for a role offering autonomy, technical involvement and exposure to substantial yacht operations, while retaining the flexibility of a predominantly home-based position.
