A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced yacht technical professional to join a highly respected yacht management business in Fort Lauderdale as Technical Manager.
This is an ideal move ashore for an experienced Chief Engineer, strong 2nd Engineer, Technical Superintendent, or yacht management professional looking to transition into a commercially focused technical management role within an established and growing operation.
Working as part of the yacht management division, you will act as the primary technical point of contact for an assigned fleet, building strong relationships with Captains and Chief Engineers while ensuring vessels remain safe, compliant, efficiently maintained, and commercially well supported.
This is a hands-on, relationship-led role requiring strong technical credibility, sound judgement, and the confidence to advise senior crew and owners' representatives alike.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Managing the technical oversight of an assigned fleet of managed yachts
- Acting as a trusted technical partner to Captains and Chief Engineers
- Supporting technical troubleshooting, defect resolution, emergency repairs, and preventative maintenance planning
- Overseeing implementation and monitoring of Planned Maintenance Systems
- Conducting annual onboard technical inspections
- Reviewing critical equipment schedules and compliance requirements
- Supporting SMS implementation and technical compliance standards
- Liaising with contractors, service providers, shipyards, and classification/regulatory bodies
- Identifying refit, maintenance, and wider commercial opportunities across the fleet
- Supporting emergency response requirements where required
Candidate Profile
We are keen to hear from individuals who bring:
- Previous experience as a Chief Engineer or senior engineering officer on large yachts
- Strong technical understanding of yacht systems, compliance, maintenance, and engineering best practice
- Experience working within ISM / SMS / compliance-driven environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities beyond day-to-day technical management
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple moving priorities
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- Full rights to live and work in the United States (or ability to do so)
