Yacht Manager US$80,000–$100,000
You've spent years making things happen aboard. What about taking that experience ashore?
Some of the best Yacht Managers don't begin their careers behind a desk. They learn their trade at sea, understanding what it takes to keep a vessel operating safely, efficiently and to the exacting standards expected by its owner.
Others develop through the yacht-management office, coordinating Captains, suppliers, documentation and compliance, gradually becoming the person everyone relies upon.
We're interested in both.
One of my favourite clients, an established international superyacht management business, is seeking a capable, commercially aware Yacht Manager to join its Fort Lauderdale operation.
This appointment offers the opportunity to take responsibility for a portfolio of professionally managed yachts, building trusted relationships with owners and Captains while ensuring the operational, financial and regulatory details are handled to the highest standard.
The opportunity
You'll become a key point of contact between the management company, its clients and the yachts themselves.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Overseeing the day-to-day management and coordination of a portfolio of superyachts.
-
Developing strong working relationships with owners, Captains, crew and specialist service providers.
-
Ensuring vessels and crew maintain appropriate statutory certification, documentation and regulatory compliance.
-
Supporting the implementation and ongoing effectiveness of Safety Management Systems (SMS), including ISM and related requirements.
-
Coordinating audits, inspections, vessel visits and the timely resolution of operational or compliance issues.
-
Monitoring operational and financial reporting, expenditure approvals and service delivery.
-
Supporting Captains in navigating operational challenges, safety matters and the requirements of Flag State and Class.
-
Identifying opportunities to improve the service delivered to clients and strengthen long-term relationships.
Who might this suit?
You may already be working as a Yacht Manager, Assistant Yacht Manager, Fleet Coordinator or within a yacht-management operations team, and feel ready for greater responsibility.
Alternatively, you could be an experienced Captain, Chief Officer or First Officer who understands the operational realities of superyachting and is looking to establish a long-term shoreside career.
Whatever your background, we're particularly interested in individuals who demonstrate:
-
Sound practical knowledge of superyacht operations and the demands placed upon Captains and crew.
-
A working understanding of maritime safety, regulatory compliance, ISM and vessel certification.
-
Excellent organisation, communication and problem-solving abilities.
-
Confidence dealing professionally with UHNW owners, senior Captains and industry stakeholders.
-
Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities.
-
A genuinely proactive, service-oriented approach.
Experience with yacht-management software, audits, Flag State and Class requirements would be particularly valuable.
Why consider it?
This is an opportunity to build a meaningful career in professional yacht management with an established international business.
For someone already working ashore, it could represent the next step into greater responsibility and client ownership.
For an experienced seafarer, it offers the prospect of applying hard-earned operational knowledge in a different environment — remaining closely connected to superyachting while developing a lasting shoreside career.
Eligibility: Applicants must have the legal right to work in the United States.
If you have the experience, judgement and ambition to take responsibility for professionally managed superyachts, I would love to hear from you!
